JADE SPEEDER Release Date and SpecsThe fairway-wood-only shaft out Oct 15, lined up against the NX FW and DIAMOND SPEEDER FW on official numbers

Updated: Oct 6, 2026Contains affiliate links

The JADE SPEEDER goes on sale Thursday, Oct 15, 2026. It's a shaft made only for fairway woods, at ¥44,000 for 1 shaft (incl. tax).
I opened the spec sheet and stopped.
Torque: 5.6°.
Even the 6, in the 60g range, is 4.6°. Fujikura's own distance-oriented DIAMOND SPEEDER FW is 2.5° at a similar weight. A series that has sold itself on resisting twist has now put out a shaft that twists nearly twice as much.
I average 72 with a best of 68, and I'm a gear nerd who spends most of my time digging into how clubs are built. Using only the official tables, I lined it up against the NX FW and DIAMOND SPEEDER FW. If your fairway wood shots balloon and go nowhere, you'll be able to decide whether to buy or pass, and if you buy, which number.

The Gear Nerd's Pick

If you play the NX FW 55, your JADE is the "6", not the "5". Fujikura compares the JADE 5 with the NX FW 55, but the 5S weighs 52.0g and the 55S 61.0g. Switch by the number and you drop 9g. The 6S is 62.0g, just 1.0g off the 55S. You keep your weight progression intact and change only the twist and the bend to JADE's. A fairway wood is a club you hit off the ground. I worry more about the players who go lighter and stop making contact than about those who go lighter and stop being late.

Bottom line

Screen by weight first. The JADE SPEEDER only goes up to 62.0g.
If your driver shaft is heavier than the upper 60g range, there's no weight that fits, so pass. The NX FW goes up to 81.0g and the DIAMOND SPEEDER FW up to 79.0g.
If your problem is that the ball won't get up, you can cross it off too. This shaft aims to deliver the loft stronger at impact and cut spin. That points the opposite way from a low-ball player's problem.
And if you struggle with topped dribblers and fat shots: that's about where you strike it, and it isn't a ¥44,000 shaft's job.

Torque is a number, given as an angle, for how easily a shaft twists. The higher it is, the more easily it twists.

These 4 fairway wood models were the only ones on the official page. As of Oct 6, there's no driver or hybrid version.

The material is Toray's T1200G. It's Fujikura's first time using it, and the company says it is more than 10% stronger in tension than the T1100G used until now. A light shaft that bends a lot tends to feel flimsy. The idea is to back it up with the strength of the material.

Against the NX FW, it's 8–9g lighter at the same number

On its official page, Fujikura compares the JADE 5 with the NX FW 55, and the 6 with the 65. I kept those pairings and added weight and torque to make this table.

Source: Fujikura's official JADE SPEEDER and SPEEDER NX FW product pages. Frequency is Fujikura's measurement (220g head, 42.5 inches (60° method), 50g grip). Weight gaps are my calculation. Checked Oct 6, 2026.

Frequency is how many times the shaft oscillates in 1 minute. The lower it is, the softer the shaft.

Lighter, softer, and easier to twist. All 3 move in the same direction.
That matches Fujikura's own explanation: it says it cut weight to raise head speed and lowered the frequency to increase the amount of bend. Assembled club weight is 322g with the 5S and 330g with the 55S. An 8g difference.

So what does it look like when you match the weights? This is the interesting part.

The JADE 6S is 62.0g. The closest NX FW is the 55S at 61.0g. Torque is 4.6° vs. 4.0°, a 0.6° gap. Frequency is 253 vs. 258, nearly level.
The 6R and 55R go further: both have a frequency of 238 cpm. Identical.

In other words, go up 1 number and the weight and stiffness barely change from your current NX FW; only the twist goes up, by 0.6°. You narrow the change down to 1 thing.
Switch by the number and weight, stiffness and twist, all 3, move at once. If it doesn't fit, you won't know which one caused it. That's why my pick is the "6".

The gap to the DIAMOND SPEEDER FW, also a distance shaft, is even wider.

At the same weight of around 60g, it twists nearly twice as much. JADE costs ¥5,500 more, and the gap to the NX FW (¥28,600) is ¥15,400 (both my calculation).

Why a shaft that twists more cuts spin

A shaft that twists sends the ball crooked. I think a lot of people remember it that way.
Fujikura's explanation starts from the opposite end.

The design the company calls "High Torque + DELOFT" is a combination of 2 things.

  1. Make it easier to twist. The head's path gets shallower, and the face is less likely to flip open at impact.
  2. Make the tip and the middle harder to bend. The loft doesn't lie back at impact; it arrives strong.

If the loft arrives strong, excess backspin drops. A ball that used to balloon moves forward. That's Fujikura's logic for the distance, and a note says the conditions were derived from swing simulation.

Backspin goes up as the gap widens between the loft at the moment of impact and the angle the head comes in at. TrackMan, the launch monitor, calls this gap "spin loft". Even with 3-woods stamped the same 15°, the more a player lets the loft lie back at impact, the more spin.
The shaft tip gives way and the head tilts upward. I read this design as using tip stiffness to stop that motion.

That said, this is the maker's calculation. It isn't out yet, so there are no third-party measurements.
After the Oct 15 release, once measurement articles and shop prices appear, I'll add the answer check to this article.

Before you buy, work out whether it's too much spin or poor contact

If spin is why you're short, this is the shaft's moment. If your contact is just thin, changing shafts won't change anything. You can tell which for ¥0.

  1. Tee it low and hit 5 balls. Off a tee it goes high and far, but off the ground you can't make contact. That's not spin; it's a low-point problem. It's on the swing side.
  2. Check your spin on a launch monitor at the range. You're striking it properly, yet the ball floats up partway and drops. That player is on the high-spin side. There's room for a shaft to change things.
  3. If your club has an adjustable hosel, strengthen the loft by 1° first. 1 wrench is all it takes. If the ball then goes forward, you're someone who benefits from the same direction of change JADE is aiming for.

If you tried stronger loft on a 3-wood and the ball stopped getting up, there's a risk the same thing happens with JADE. In that case, think about a 5-wood.

If you can't make contact off the ground, it's the club number, not the shaft. In Do You Need a 3-Wood? I wrote up the conditions under which a 5-wood goes farther. If you can't decide between your swing and your gear, Lessons or New Clubs First is the shortcut.

Choosing the number: start from your driver shaft's weight

Don't make a fairway wood shaft lighter than your driver's. That's the starting point. Club fitter Takeshi Ishii gives this guideline: a 3-wood of 43 inches or longer at the same weight as the driver, and from a 5-wood at around 42.5 inches on down, about 10g heavier (e!Golf, August 2024).

I applied JADE's 4 models to this guideline.

FW 5 (50.0–52.0g): the number for players with a driver shaft in the 40g range

Its 5.6° torque is higher than the NX FW's lightest model, the 45 (5.0°). Of the 4 models, this is where the design's intent shows most strongly.

Great for you if you

Better to skip if you

FW 6 (60.0–62.0g): if unsure, this one

If I were choosing, it'd be the 6. Its weight is almost the same as the NX FW 55, and the 6R even matches on frequency. You can try it while keeping your current feel. The 4.6° torque is only 0.6° up from the NX FW 55 (4.0°).
Hard to get wrong.

Who doesn't need to pay ¥44,000

Let me be clear about who doesn't need to buy it.

There's also a cheaper order of steps for the same problem. Strengthen the loft by 1° (¥0). If it still balloons, try the heavier NX FW (¥28,600). JADE can come after that.

To see it alongside other new releases, go to Latest Shafts 2026. If you're thinking of replacing the whole head, Best Fairway Woods 2026 has the ranking of 3 and the reasons.

FAQ

What are the JADE SPEEDER's release date and price?

It goes on sale Thursday, Oct 15, 2026, at ¥44,000 for 1 shaft (incl. tax; ¥40,000 before tax). Assembly and grip are extra (checked on Fujikura's official site, Oct 6, 2026).

Is there a JADE SPEEDER for drivers?

As of Oct 6, 2026, Fujikura's official product page lists only the 4 fairway wood models (FW 5 in R and S, FW 6 in R and S). No driver or hybrid versions are listed.

What's the difference between the JADE SPEEDER and the SPEEDER NX FW?

The JADE SPEEDER is built lighter, softer and easier to twist. For the 5S and NX FW 55S, which Fujikura puts side by side, weight is 52.0g vs. 61.0g, torque 5.6° vs. 4.0°, and frequency 243 cpm vs. 258 cpm. The prices are ¥44,000 and ¥28,600.

Should I choose the JADE SPEEDER 5 or 6?

Pick the number that isn't lighter than your driver shaft. As a guide, the 5 (50.0–52.0g) if your driver shaft is in the 40g range, and the 6 (60.0–62.0g) if it's in the 50g range. If you play the NX FW 55 (58.0–61.0g), the 6 is the easier switch because the weight is close.
