DriversNew Drivers 2026A gear nerd who averages 72 picks three, plus a list of release dates, head volumes and prices

If I, a player who averages 72, were choosing three 2026 drivers for my own bag, the order would be the Callaway QUANTUM ◆◆◆, the Titleist GTS2 and the Srixon ZXi RKT. The reasons are in the Driver Rankings. But the ◆◆◆ is a better-player model sold only at select stores in Japan. The one that is easy to find, cheapest, and easiest to recommend as a first look is the ZXi RKT (released Sept. 12, ¥89,100). All four versions cost the same, so you can pick by your miss. Most of this year's drivers are 460cc, and every maker says it thinned the face for more ball speed. In a year this even, what decides it is the direction of your miss, not the release date.

Bottom line: start with the ZXi RKT, and pick the model that fits your miss
I'd choose from the Srixon ZXi RKT lineup. I used three criteria: whether you can buy it off the shelf, the price, and whether you can pick a model to match your miss. The ZXi RKT went on sale September 12 and is in stores; at ¥89,100 it's the cheapest in this article's list, and all four models (standard, MAX, LS and TR) cost the same.
Its weakness is the price increase: it's ¥3,300 more than the previous ZXi (2024, ¥85,800). If you're happy with the previous model, I think there's little reason to switch.
The TaylorMade Qi4D, Callaway QUANTUM and PING G440 K, released in January and February, had no announced successors as of September 14 and remain each brand's latest. The Bridgestone BX TOUR MAX (September 18) and BX★★TOUR (October 9) are custom-order only, not models you can pick up at any shop.
Before you buy, count your misses over just 10 balls with your current driver
Counting your current misses tells you which model to choose. Hit 10 balls with your current driver at the range and count which happens most: "curves right," "curves left," or "balloons and goes nowhere." It costs nothing.
- Shots curve a lot, left or right: models built to fly straighter. ZXi RKT MAX, Titleist GTS2, PING G440 K (PING says it has its highest MOI ever; MOI is what keeps the head from twisting on off-center hits)
- Worried about missing left: a model with less draw bias. Bridgestone BX★★TOUR (custom-order only)
- The ball balloons and goes nowhere: low-spin models. ZXi RKT LS, Titleist GTS4
If you miss right and left about equally, I don't think a head design can take away just one side. In that case, work on more consistent contact through lessons or practice before changing heads. One more thing: even with the same head, the shaft makes a big difference to the weight and the way the club flexes. I've rounded up 2026's new shafts in Latest Shafts 2026.
2026 drivers (newest first)
Side by side, 2026's new drivers barely differ in head size (volume). Apart from the GTS300 mini driver, they all fall within 450–460cc.
| Model | Release date | Price (incl. tax) | Loft | Volume | Features (from the manufacturers' descriptions) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bridgestone B-Limited BX★★TOUR | Oct 9, 2026 (pre-release) | From ¥99,000 (custom order only) | 9° | 460cc | A tour model that tames draw bias so you can swing without fearing the left miss |
| Bridgestone B-Limited BX TOUR MAX | Sep 18, 2026 | From ¥99,000 (custom order only) | 9.5 / 10.5° | 460cc | Forgiving on off-center hits, with an easy look at address and optimized spin |

| Srixon ZXi RKT (Standard, MAX, LS, TR) | Sep 12, 2026 | ¥89,100 | 9 / 10.5° | 460cc (TR is 450cc) | A new face aimed at ball speed and directional stability |
| Titleist GTS300 (mini driver) | Jul 23, 2026 | ¥93,500 | 13° | 305cc | A compact head for tee shots |
| PRGR RS / RS MAX | Jul 10, 2026 | ¥107,800 (official) | 9 / 10.5° | 450cc / 460cc | A four-layer face aimed at the fastest ball speed in RS history. The face is on average 7% thinner than the previous model |
| Titleist GTS2 / GTS3 / GTS4 | Jun 11, 2026 | ¥115,500 | 8–11° | 460cc | 2 for straightness, 3 for flight adjustment, 4 for low spin |
| Mizuno JPX ONE / JPX ONE SELECT | Mar 6, 2026 | ¥92,400 | 9 / 10.5° | 460cc | A new-material face that combines forgiveness and ball speed |
| Callaway QUANTUM (MAX and others, 5 models) | Feb 6, 2026 | From ¥110,000 | 9–12° | 460cc (◆◆◆ is 450cc) | A three-layer face. The titanium section is 14% thinner than the previous model |
| PING G440 K / G440 K HL | Feb 5, 2026 | ¥118,800 | 9–12° | 460cc | The highest MOI (resistance to curving) in PING history |
| TaylorMade Qi4D (4 models) | Jan 29, 2026 | ¥107,800 | 9 / 10.5° | 460cc | The 4 models differ by weight placement |
When head size is the same, the differences show up in the face and the weight placement. As a golf gear nerd, those are the two things I look at when I compare how clubs are built. The four Qi4D models, split by weight placement, are a case in point.
Every brand tells the same story: a thinner face for more ball speed (PRGR RS is on average 7% thinner than its predecessor; Callaway QUANTUM's titanium section is 14% thinner). But how far it goes depends on the player and the shaft. A maker's "X% thinner" is not a distance promise.
Fall releases: Srixon, PRGR, Bridgestone
The three brands that launched from summer to fall suit clearly different players: Srixon if you want to choose a head type, PRGR for mid-to-advanced players (that's how the maker itself describes it), and Bridgestone if you want a custom build.
Srixon ZXi RKT (Sep 12)
All four models are ¥89,100 and 45.75 inches long. The standard ZXi RKT lets you adjust for draw or fade, the MAX curves the least, the LS gives a strong, low-spin flight, and the TR is a compact 450cc head. Reading the maker's descriptions, the MAX is a candidate if your shots curve a lot left and right, and the LS if your ball balloons with too much spin. That's ¥3,300 more than the previous ZXi (2024, ¥85,800). If you're happy with the previous model, I don't think you need to rush to switch. I compare all four models in detail in Srixon and XXIO drivers.
PRGR RS / RS MAX (Jul 10)
RS: 450cc, total weight 315g (9°); RS MAX: 460cc, 314g (9°). Both are 45.5 inches. PRGR describes them as for serious mid-to-advanced players. There's also a limited-quantity compact RS F, but I couldn't confirm its loft or other detailed numbers on the official site.
Bridgestone B-Limited BX (Sep 18 / Oct 9)
Both are custom order only, ordered through Bridgestone's own online store, its own shops and similar channels. The BX TOUR MAX is a larger head that stays forgiving on off-center hits; the BX★★TOUR is a tour model with reduced draw bias. Length and weight were not listed in the official materials.
Who doesn't need a new driver
I don't think the following golfers need to rush out for a 2026 model.
- You're happy with your current driver: if you count 10 shots and your misses aren't lopsided, there's nothing for a new club to fix.
- Beginners and golfers with slower head speeds: a previous-generation model is often enough, and it's often cheaper than a new one. I explain how to choose in the beginner driver article.
- You want to buy at a nearby shop right away: rule out the two Bridgestone BX models, since they're custom order only.
If you do switch, the order is: "count 10 shots to decide the type → narrow the candidates with the rankings and brand comparisons → check your current driver's trade-in value and set a budget."
FAQ
What's the newest driver as of Sep 2026?
Among drivers you can buy at regular retailers, it's the Srixon ZXi RKT, released September 12 (4 models, ¥89,100). The Bridgestone B-Limited BX TOUR MAX goes on sale September 18 and the BX★★TOUR on October 9, but both are custom-order only.
Have successors to the TaylorMade Qi4D or Callaway QUANTUM come out?
As of Sep 14, I haven't seen any announcement of successor models in Japan. The Qi4D (Jan 29), QUANTUM (Feb 6) and PING G440 K (Feb 5) are each brand's latest driver.
When will the PING G450 be released?
As of Sep 14, there's been no official announcement in Japan. What's online is still just rumor.
How much is the PRGR RS 2026?
On PRGR's official site, both the RS and RS MAX are ¥107,800 (incl. tax). GDO's catalog lists a different price, but this article uses the official figure.
