RankingsWomen's Iron Rankings 2026My three picks from 7-iron loft, weight and price per club
Updated: Oct 7, 2026Contains affiliate links
Among women's irons, No. 1 is the XXIO 14 Ladies, No. 2 the ONOFF IRON LADY and No. 3 the Bridgestone B-LD.
Lining up 11 7-irons, the lofts ran from 29° to 34°.
A 5° spread. On the XXIO 14 Ladies, the 7-iron is 30° and the 8-iron 34°. So one maker's 7-iron has the same loft as another maker's 8-iron. The same "7-iron" is a different club.
I'm a gear nerd who normally studies only how clubs are built, with an average score of 72 and a best of 68. I ranked them by 7-iron loft, weight and price per club. Which one to pick changes with whether you want distance or height.
The Gear Nerd's Pick
No. 1: Dunlop XXIO 14 Ladies Irons (5-club set ¥154,000) Eight club numbers from the 5-iron to the sand wedge, and you can add missing clubs one at a time. The 7-iron is 30°, and 327g in L. The faces of the 5-iron through 9-iron are titanium. Of these 11, it's the only one with a titanium face. The weight freed by light titanium goes into the sole weights. Lower the center of gravity and the ball goes up. It's a build that aims to get both a distance loft and easy launch from the material. The money is spent differently from the others.

Bottom line
Decide first whether you want distance or height.
For distance, models with a 29 to 30° 7-iron. For height and holding the green, a higher-lofted model. The Yonex Fiore has a 34° 7-iron and is the lightest at 317g.
Then look at which clubs come in the set. Four or five clubs from the 7-iron is standard. Most golfers needn't buy the 6-iron or 5-iron. A hybrid is easier to hit at that distance.
If your 7-iron launches high and your distances step evenly, you needn't replace it.
Ranked by 7-iron loft, weight and price per club
Irons are the clubs you aim at the green with. I looked at four points.
- 7-iron loft. Lower goes farther; higher launches and stops the ball.
- 7-iron weight. Total weight in L flex.
- Price per club. Set sizes differ by maker, so I divided the set price by the number of clubs (author's calculation).
- Range of clubs. From which number to which number are available.
The material is each maker's official Japanese spec sheet. I couldn't find any third-party measurements of Japan-spec women's clubs.

Why This Order
| Rank | Model | Why I ranked it here |
|---|---|---|
| No. 1 | Dunlop XXIO 14 Ladies | Titanium faces on the #5 to #9 irons are found on only 11 of the clubs here. The weight freed by the light face goes low, so it launches even at 30°. 8 club numbers and 3 flexes. I judged that build and range outweigh the high ¥30,800 per 1 club. |
| No. 2 | ONOFF IRON LADY | The #7 at 324g is the lightest of the 4 whose weight is known at 30° loft. The range of club numbers matches the XXIO, and it's ¥5,500 cheaper per 1 club. It falls short of No. 1 because the face is steel, a difference in build. |
| No. 3 | Bridgestone B-LD | At ¥19,360 per 1 club, the #7 is 29°. Cheap, with a distance loft. I put it at No. 3 because the #7 is 330g, 6g heavier than the ONOFF, and the lineup starts from the #6 (custom order), so the range is narrow. |
I looked at the balance of distance and easy launch through 7-iron loft, weight and build. Change the criteria and the order changes. Reread it by whichever point you look at first.
No. 1 XXIO 14 Ladies: a titanium face gets both distance and easy launch
The XXIO 14 Ladies puts the most money into the build. The faces of the 5-iron through 9-iron are VR-Titanium. The body is stainless steel, and the 5-iron through 7-iron carry tungsten and nickel weights.
Strengthen the loft and the ball flies farther.
But it doesn't get up.
So make the face light titanium, put the spare weight toward the sole and lower the center of gravity, and the ball launches even at 30°. That's Dunlop's explanation, and the logic holds. It also says it thinned the toe side of the face to widen the area that flexes.
The range of club numbers is good too. Eight, from the 5-iron to the sand wedge. The 5-club set is the 7, 8 and 9, PW and sand wedge, and you can add the 5-iron, 6-iron and approach wedge at ¥30,800 each. Flex comes in A and L, plus R (custom order). The 7-iron is 327g in L and 328g in A.
The weak point is again price. It's high. At ¥30,800 per club, it's about 1.6 times the ¥19,360 of the B-LD in third place. I also couldn't find third-party measurements of how much farther a titanium face flies. I chose No. 1 on the build and the official explanation.

No. 2 ONOFF: the lightest of the 30° irons at 324g
The ONOFF IRON LADY's #7 is 324g. That is the lightest number among the 4 with published weight at 30° loft. Per 1 club it's ¥25,300, ¥5,500 less than the XXIO.
The range runs 8 club numbers from the 5-iron to the sand wedge, the same as the XXIO. The loft lineup, from 24° on the 5-iron to 44° on the PW, was also exactly the same as the XXIO. The difference is how you choose flex. L is 324g in the 7-iron and A is 339g, 15g apart. Golfers who find a women's L too light can pick a heavier shaft in the same head. The official guide is L up to 34 m/s head speed and A up to 38 m/s.
The sole carries dense tungsten, and the back of the face is grooved to widen the area that rebounds. The idea of lowering the center of gravity to launch the ball is the same as the XXIO.
Released Mar 7, 2025.
It missed No. 1 because of the face material. The ONOFF is steel, not titanium. Even so, it's ¥5,500 cheaper and 3g lighter. If you prioritize price and lightness, this ranks No. 1.
No. 3 B-LD: 1 club for ¥19,360, and the #7 is 29°
The B-LD is cheap, yet it has a distance loft. Cheap: ¥96,800 for a 5-club set. At ¥19,360 per 1 club, it's ¥11,440 less than the XXIO. The #7 is 29°, 1° stronger than the 2 above.
The set's sand wedge is 56° with 20° of bounce.
20°.
Bounce is the angle of the sole's bulge, and the bigger it is, the less the club digs into sand. Next to the XXIO's 12° and the ONOFF's 10°, it reads as a build clearly aimed at golfers who struggle in bunkers.
The weak points are weight and club numbers. The L 7-iron is 330g, 6g heavier than the ONOFF. The range starts at the 6-iron, and the 6-iron is a custom order. The release date wasn't on the official page.
Change the criteria and No. 1 changes. Who needn't buy
I chose the top three by the balance of distance and easy launch. Narrow it to one criterion and a different club appears.
- For easy launch, the Yonex Fiore. The 7-iron is 34° and 317g. ¥14,960 per club. It is No. 1 of the 11 on three counts. It doesn't give distance. Your 7-iron goes the distance of other models' 8-iron. For golfers fine with that, it's the most forgiving.
- To buy 1 club at a time, PING G LE 4. You buy by the club, not the set. You can buy just the #7, #9 and PW, 3 clubs. 1 clubs ¥34,100, the most expensive of the 11.
- For forged feel, the Fourteen PC-3 For LADIES. The body is forged soft iron. It's made to order, and the weight is not published.
- PRGR CRYSTAL egg: 327g at 30°. Numbers almost the same as the XXIO, and ¥3,300 cheaper per 1 club. A build for sweepers, with a thinner lower face.
- TaylorMade Qi MAX LITE WOMEN'S: 31° 7-iron, about 336g. On the heavy side among the 11.
You can skip it if
- Golfers whose current 7-iron launches high and whose distances step about 10 yards per club
- Golfers who can't hit the 5-iron and 6-iron (swapping those for a hybrid is quicker than replacing the irons)
- Golfers who hit fat and thin about half and half (strike location comes before the club)
What loft is your 7-iron? Look at the spec table of your current model on the maker's site.

FAQ
What is the loft of a women's 7-iron?
Among the 11 compared, it ranged from 29° to 34°. Most were 29 to 30°, the Yonex Fiore is 34° and the PRGR SWEEP 32°. It differs by maker, so compare by loft, not club number.
Should I choose a distance iron or a high-launch iron?
If your 7-iron already gets the ball up well, a 29 to 30° strong-lofted model can add distance. If you can't get it up or can't hold the green, a higher-lofted model suits you better. The stronger the loft, the harder it is to launch.
How many clubs should a women's iron set have?
The basic buy is four clubs, the 7, 8, 9 and PW, plus a sand wedge for five. Many golfers find a hybrid easier than a 5-iron or 6-iron for the same distance, so you needn't buy those at first.
Which is the lightest women's iron?
Among the 11 compared, the Yonex Fiore 7-iron is the lightest at 317g (L), followed by the ONOFF IRON LADY at 324g. The 7-iron weight is not published for the PING G LE 4 or the Fourteen PC-3 (checked Oct 7, 2026).
