The PXG zero-torque mallet, the Torpedo ZT, has appeared on the Japanese official site. From ¥81,400 (tax included). The head is 370 g.
What caught my eye first in the spec sheet was the loft column. 4°. But it says the hands sit forward by 1°, so you address it as 3°.
I think that "1°" is the most important number this time. PXG's Hot Rod ZT is 3° and the One & Done ZT is 2°. Zero-torque putters tend to put your hands forward, and some players don't fit that.
I put it against the previous Battle Ready II Torpedo and four other PXG zero-torque putters on the official numbers. You can decide whether to buy it, whether the previous model is enough, or whether to pass.

Bottom line

How I picked: three yardsticks

• Hand tilt. What makes a zero-torque putter hard to set up with is that your hands move forward. The smaller the tilt, the closer to an ordinary setup.
• Weight range. Can you change the weight to match green speed without buying a new putter?
• Price. How much more it costs than other makers' zero-torque putters and the previous Torpedo.

On these three, I judged the Torpedo ZT to be for "players who want zero-torque with a normal setup." On price alone, my pick is still the Spider ZT MAX.

The Torpedo ZT: ¥81,400, 370g, 4° loft

These numbers are from PXG's official Japan product page. It comes in right- and left-handed.

The release date isn't shown on the official product page. Golf media reported "on sale in Japan on Oct 8, too," and the product data went up on the Japanese official site on Oct 8 (Japan time). There are also authorized listings on Rakuten Ichiba.

The length isn't in the table either. PXG sells by fitting length, loft, lie, grip and weight, so if you buy from a shop or online, check the length on each listing.

Forward press is 1°, the smallest among PXG's zero-torque mallets

I line up PXG's five zero-torque putters by loft and the angle by which your hands sit forward.

Source: PXG's official Japan product pages and product data (checked Oct 10, 2026). The Bat Attack ZT and Hellcat ZT don't state a forward-press angle, so I subtracted from the description “5° (4°) of loft, set up to play like 3°.”

All five come to 3° of loft when you address them. The "loft" in the table reads as a marker of how far forward your hands go. The Hot Rod ZT is 6° with a 3° tilt; the Torpedo ZT is 4° with a 1° tilt.

1° and 3° look small, but the view at address changes. A smaller tilt isn't automatically better. A player who settles in with the hands forward should take the Hot Rod ZT.

The gap to the earlier Torpedo is ¥13,200. Materials and neck differ

The Torpedo shape came out in Aug 2025 in the Battle Ready II series. Same name, quite different inside.

Source: PXG's official Japan product pages and product data (checked Oct 10, 2026). The Battle Ready II Torpedo armlock is 405g, 7° loft, 73° lie. The last row is my summary based on the maker's descriptions.

The difference is ¥13,200 (my calculation). The weight hasn't changed: the previous heel-shafted model and the Torpedo ZT are both 370 g. What differs is the arrangement: the previous model fills a hollowed-out stainless body with resin (S COR), while the Torpedo ZT has a stainless face only, with aluminum behind it. PXG says the weight is placed farther from the center of gravity, so it twists less on off-center hits. The MOI figure isn't published.

The neck is now one type. A zero-torque putter builds its balance from the position of the shaft, so if you could choose the neck, it would break that balance. Only the previous model lets you choose among four necks, or use an arm-lock style.

Weights take it 13g lighter or 22g heavier

There are two 9 g weights on the sole. Swap them and the head ranges from 357 g to 392 g: 13 g lighter and 22 g heavier than the standard 370 g (my calculation). The Spider ZT is 370 g and the ZT MAX is 379 g, a 9 g gap, so moving 35 g in one putter is a strength. If you keep running short on slow greens, go heavier; if you punch it on fast greens, go lighter.

The grip that comes with it is a special one with a tilted gripping surface. If you swap in another brand, the hand position changes, so ask the shop or PXG before you do. I wrote about thickness in short putts and grip thickness.

Next to other brands' zero-torque putters, the price is above the middle

I'll line it up with the three main putters compared in the zero-torque putter article. There, I made the Spider ZT MAX my pick.

It costs ¥12,100 more than the Spider ZT MAX and ¥48,400 less than the DF3i (my calculation). What the ZT MAX has and the Torpedo ZT lacks is fixed lengths of 33 and 34 inches and the plain convenience of the same putter in any shop. What only the Torpedo ZT has is the 35 g adjustment range and a 1° tilt (the ZT MAX is 2°).

On Oct 16, the Kasco 9/9 STRAP PUTTER torqueless, 36 inches at ¥57,200, also comes out. If you want to steady your wrists with length, that is a candidate too.

What I like

• A 1° hand tilt. The smallest of PXG's zero-torque mallets, with the least quirky set of numbers.
• The weight moves across 35 g. You can try it against green speed without buying a new putter.
• The face milling. PXG says the fine pyramid-shaped milling steadies the roll. The back has a notch so you can pick up the ball without bending down.

What to watch for

• The release date and length aren't on the official page. You need to check the length on each listing.
• One neck only. For arm-lock, take the previous model.
• Priced above the middle. From ¥81,400. It can go up depending on the specs you choose.

Who it suits: if you're torn, choose by what you want

• The Torpedo ZT: players whose 1.5 m misses lean either right or left, players who found the hands-forward setup of zero-torque putters bothersome, and players whose courses often change green speed.
• The Battle Ready II Torpedo (¥68,200): players who don't want to change how they stroke, players who want to use arm-lock, and players who like how the neck looks. You can choose from 4 necks.
• The Hellcat ZT (¥44,000): a blade type with 4° of loft and a 370 g head, the same as the Torpedo ZT. It's the entry point for players who only want to find out whether zero-torque suits them.
• Who doesn't need it: players who mostly miss short or long, players whose 3-putts start with the first putt, players already holing out with the previous Torpedo, and players who found the hand position of the Spider ZT MAX fine.

Price and where to buy: before you buy, look at the hand position in a photo

Before the putter, count how you miss. Hit 1.5 m putts 20 times (the method is in the zero-torque putter article). If you miss to one side, set up with your current putter and film it from directly beside it, opposite the target. If your hands are right above the ball, the Torpedo ZT suits; if you already set up with your hands forward, even the 3° Hot Rod ZT should feel fine. You can find out for ¥0.

What are the PXG Torpedo ZT's price and release date?

It starts at ¥81,400 (incl. tax). PXG's official Japan product page doesn't give a release date. It was listed on the official Japan site on Oct 8, 2026, and golf media report that it went on sale the same day (checked Oct 10, 2026).

How is it different from the Battle Ready II Torpedo?

Price (from ¥81,400 vs. ¥68,200), head construction (stainless steel face plus aluminum rear vs. hollow milled stainless steel), neck (one onset option vs. four) and loft (4° vs. 3°). The standard head weight of 370g (heel-shafted for the earlier model) and the 70° lie are the same.

Isn't 4° of loft too much?

It's built to be set up with the hands pressed 1° forward, so the loft at address comes to 3°, PXG explains. PXG's own Hot Rod ZT is 6° with 3° of forward press, and the One & Done ZT is 5° with 2°. All of them come to 3° at address.

Can the head weight be changed?

You can swap the two 9g sole weights to adjust it from 357g to 392g. Standard is 370g.
