PuttersScotty Cameron PuttersHow to choose among the PHANTOM, STUDIO STYLE and OC
Updated: Sep 13, 2026Contains affiliate links
Scotty Cameron makes many putters, and the PHANTOM alone has 11 models. You don't need to compare them all. The end of the model number tells you the neck shape. Once the neck is settled, the rest is your taste in shape and length.

Bottom line: how I'd choose
Decide the neck first. If you open and close the face in your stroke, ".5" (jet). If you want to take it straight back and straight through, a plain number (mid single bend) or the OC, where almost no opening and closing occurs, tends to fit. ".2" (plumber's) is in between.
For shape, start from the STUDIO STYLE for a blade or the PHANTOM for a mallet.
Prices are ¥82,500 standard, ¥88,000 Long Design and ¥90,200 OC.
Putters: with Scotty Cameron, the model number tells you the neck
| Series | Released | Price (incl. tax) | Shape | Features |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rolling out from March 2026 | ¥82,500 | Mallet | 11 models including the 5, 7, 9R, 3.2 and 12. A new insert across the whole face | |
| Mar 14, 2025 (3 models added from Feb 2026) | ¥82,500 | Blade and mid-mallet | 15 models including the Newport, Squareback, Fastback and Catalina | |
| From March 2025 | ¥88,000 | Mid-mallet | 38 in. A 25g tungsten sole weight | |
| Nov 14, 2025 | ¥90,200 | Mallet and mid-mallet | A low-torque design with the shaft on the line through the center of gravity. The head is 15g heavier than standard |
With Scotty Cameron, the end of the model number tells you the neck shape.
- A plain number (Phantom 5, etc.): mid single bend. Little toe hang
- ".2" (Phantom 5.2, etc.): plumber's neck. Medium
- ".5" (Phantom 5.5, etc.): jet neck. Nearly the most toe hang
- "OC": almost no opening and closing of the face
The more you open and close the face, the better ".5" tends to fit; the more you want to go straight back and straight through, the better a plain number or OC tends to fit. For a blade, start from the STUDIO STYLE; for a mallet, the PHANTOM.
As I wrote in the putter article, Scotty Cameron does not publish head weight.
Before you buy last year's model: how it differs from the one before
| Current | Previous model | Difference in numbers |
|---|---|---|
| PHANTOM (2026) | PHANTOM (March 2024) | The 2024 version has no insert; the 2026 version has an insert across the whole face |
FAQ
What's the difference between a Scotty Cameron "5.2" and "5.5"?
The head shape is the same; the neck differs. ".2" is a plumber's neck with a medium toe hang, and ".5" is a jet neck with nearly the most toe hang. A plain number such as Phantom 5 is a mid single bend, with the least toe hang.
